Warm greetings to
everyone gathered in Los Angeles for "A Family Celebration."
I am pleased to join with the Child Welfare League or
America, We Care About Kids, and the Associates for Breast
and prostate Cancer Studies at: the John Wayne Cancer
Institute in paying tribute to my good friend Gladys Knight
for her remarkable life and career and in congratulating
all of this Year's outstanding honorees.
It is a very
American idea that: we meet our challenges not through
big government or as isolated individuals, but as members
of a true community, with all of us working together.
As supporters of the CWLA, We Care About Kids, and the
Associates for breast and Prostate Cancer, you and your
honorees have upheld this vital tradition through your
efforts to fight child abuse and neglect, racism/ and
disease. I commend you for devoting your time and talents
to keep America's families healthy/ safe, and strong -
- you have rightly earned the respect and gratitude of
all chose you have served.
